OVERNIGHT – THE SURVIVALIST - 2 Days

We begin our day by warming our engines and setting out from our home base in Canggu, weaving through bustling villages and observing traditional morning routines and the exciting frenzy of local markets. Here we’ll make a quick stop to gather a few supplies and take in the vibrant atmosphere.

There is certainly no shortage of scenic landscape views along our route and we will keep a slow and steady pace as we explore the intricate network of Southern Tabanan’s narrow farm tracks. Here we’ll take a moment to stretch our legs and soak up the spectacular views of terraced paddy fields for as far as the eye can see.

After parking our rides around mid day we will boot up for our descent into the rainforest. The shade provided by the old growth canopy will be the perfect relief from the mid day sun and if that’s not enough perhaps a brisk dip into a natural jungle plunge pool will do the trick. Along the way we will discover the regions natural resources and learn about the many practical uses of the local flora.

As we trek further down the forest path the smell of the camp fire should let us know that we’re close to our destination and when we arrive lunch preperations will be well underway. Here we can learn about the traditional cooking techniques using bamboo and steam. But before we finally sit down to eat we’ll first try to refine our supreme widdling skills as we carve our own cutlery and cups.

Around mid afternoon we’ll emerge from the rainforest path and make our way back to the more modern comforts of our mountain glamping tents. Here we’ll have a well deserved rest for our feet from the day’s activities and some free time to relax and unwind. We highly recommend enjoying a warm soak in the jungle jacuzzi or steam in the Scandinavian sauna to sooth our joints and muscles.

As the sun sets into the evening sky and the sounds of the forest begin their evening’s symphony, we will gather for a group dinner and to share our adventure stories. Afterwards simply relax by the fire or ascend to the top deck with a warm blanket where (if we’re lucky) we will have front row seats for some truly impressive stargazing.

Rise and shine! On day two we’ll be up at the crack of dawn to sip in the sunrise and warm our engines before we make our way down to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Jatiluwih. At this early time of day we will have this entire beautiful landscape all to ourselves and we will spend our time here exploring the farm tracks with paddy field views as far as the eye can see

After our morning cruise through the rice fields we’ll return to camp for breakfast and ready ourselves to once again mount up on our trusty steeds. From here we will ride back down through the foothills of Batu Karu enjoying the gentle roller coaster of twists and turns and scenic farmland views along the way.

On our second day we will stop along our route to take a stroll through a traditional village and take part in some of the local customs. In this hands on experience we will learn about work in the fields from the local farmers, grind our own coffee and weave Balinese offerings known as canang.

After our stroll through the village and as we approach mid day we will arrive at our rest point where lunch preparations will be well underway. However, this will not be your standard “sit-back-and-relax” meal service as we will be rolling up our sleeves and learning some of the secrets of authentic Balinese cooking by making a few of our favorite dishes. Soon enough we will enjoy the fruits of our labors and after satisfied bellies we will continue on to the final stretch of our journey.

By now we will surely be feeling filled to the brim with tasty food, fascinating culture and our fair share of adventure so the final stretch will be smooth sailing all the way home.

We should expect to arrive back at our home base in Canggu just in time to enjoy sunset at the beach and some ice cold beers!
